Race Recap: Royals Charity 5k

So Saturday morning, like 5am early morning I made Chris wake up and drive us an hour so we could do a 5k. I know crazy, right? 
We did the KC Royals Charity 5k and we got to run on the field!!! 

We got there about 7:15 had to pick up our packet and wait for the race to start at 8. I was terrified the packet pick up line was going to be horrible but it was smooth sailing, only stood in like for like 10 minutes and got in and out in like 2 minutes. We got out t-shirts and went back to the car to put everything in it. 
We put our numbers on and walked up to the start line. 

The race took place and went around the whole sports complex which was pretty cool. Got to see a lot of things I'd never paid attention to. It was a pretty easy course, only 1 hill which wasn't bad and running down hill was great! 

I haven't ran a race since last October so I really just had plans to not finish last. I didn't care about the time or anything I just wanted to have fun with this one. 
Well I ended up doing pretty good for myself! 
I ran 3.1 miles in 45:12 which I'm pretty happy with! 
The hubs beat me by like 2 seconds. 
I'm happy to say we both can't wait to run this one again next year. 
Plus running on field was pretty much the best part!

What did you do over the weekend?


  1. I really wanted to do this 5k! Next year! I'm so proud of you for already getting back out there and kicking ass! You go, girl!
